The first house show to be held at the arena was a Smackdown event on the 18 March 2004.

The Metro Radio Arena Newcastle is a 11,000 (including standing) seated sports and entertainment venue based in Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom.Former member of the 1960s band, The Animals, Chas Chandler and his business partner Nigel Stanger conceived and helped build the arena Metro Radio Arena, Who We Are.

The idea, which would see the Arena rebuilt along with a casino linked to a convention centre, was revealed today as a master plan ‘vision’ for the area was unveiled.
