The release of the album, Bill Bruford left the group to integrate King Crimson, finding that it has become too complicated to deal: Anderson and Squire are very demanding and take to the fair distribution in the composition of parts. Bruford is replaced by Alan White for the tour following, immortalized by the triple live album Yessongs (Bruford on two tracks recorded in 1972). In 1973, the band released the highly controversial Tales from Topographic Oceans, consisting of four songs about 20 minutes each.
