Willie "big eyes" Smith (January 19, 1936, Helena, Arkansas) is a musician and American blues singer. As a solo artist, he is best known as a harmonica player, although he was also a 20 years as baterà­a of the Muddy Waters band. Smith joined the band of Muddy Water, along with George "mojo" Buford, Luther Tucker, Pat Hare, and Otis Spann in 1961, marching shortly after to work as a taxi driver. At the end of the Decade, he returned to training. In 1980, Smith and other members of the band, Pinetop Perkins, Calvin Jones, and Jerry Portnoy, left to form The Legendary Blues Band with a veteran of the blues of Chicago, Louis Myers, appearing in the pelà­cula The Blues Brothers (1980) as the band of John Lee Hooker. Later, The Legendary Blues Band were touring with Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, and Eric Clapton. His first solo work was Bag Full of Blues (1995) with Pinetop Perkins, Kim Wilson, James Wheeler, Nick Moss, and Gareth Best.
