The history of the group starts with Eddie Ojeda when he joined a group called Silverstar, and then to audition by Wicked Lester, who is none other than the future Kiss. But Ojeda remains in Silverstar and on a suggestion by singer Michael Valentine, the Group renamed in Twisted Sister. We are then in 1973 and the line up consists of Eddie and Billy Diamond on guitars, Michael Valentine song, Kenny Neill to the bass and Mell Starr on drums. In 1975, Eddie Fingers, a friend of French, joined the group as a guitarist and second vocalist. Kevin John Grace also replaces drummer Mell Starr. The group is moving towards the glam rock, influenced by David Bowie, Slade, Mott The Hoople, Humble Pie, and the New York Dolls. Twisted Sister is very known step and played only in small clubs in New York. In 1976, Dee Snider integrates the group as lead singer, it is he who writes also all of the songs. After replacing drummer Kevin John Grace by Tony Petri, Twisted Sister takes a musical direction much more heavy, influenced by Motörhead and Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath.
