Steve Miller (October 5, 1943 in Milwaukee, United States) is a singer, composer and American blues rock guitarist. Miller was born to a father amateur jazz and a mother who was a singer of jazz. In 1950, his family went to Dallas, Texas where Steve Miller formed his first band, The Marksmen. His group included one of his schoolmates, Boz Scaggs, who became famous later as songwriter. In the 1960s, Miller was educated at the University of Wisconsin where he formed another group, The Ardells. Boz Scaggs and Ben Sidran joined the group a year after its formation. Miller was a famous sponsor, Les Paul, a pioneer of the electric guitar, who encouraged him to use his skills as musician. In 1968, Miller formed the Steve Miller Band, with Miller on vocals, who recorded his first album Children of the Future, to the psychedelic style such as groups of San Francisco at this time. The second album of the group, Sailor, was the most successful, the following albums had good success but not hit. The year 1973 marked a turning point in the career of Steve Miller with the album The Joker who was popular in the United States successful, and then Fly Like an Eagle and Book of Dreams were also commercial successes. Several titles came out in simple and became hits: "Rock'n Me," "take the Money and run," "Jet airliner", and "Jungle Love.". Steve Miller has played the role of Prentiss in the Roar film released in 1981. After a crossing of the desert, success returned in 1982 with Abracadabra. He then abandoned the recording of albums and has collaborated with Paul McCartney in 1997 on Flaming Pie which won a Grammy Award.
