Steely Dan is an American music group consisting of two members: Donald Fagen and Walter Becker. Donald Fagen was born in Passaic, New Jersey (West suburb of the city of New York) on 10 January 1948 while Walter Becker was born on February 20, 1950 in New York City. The two grew up in the American suburbs in explosion in the early 1950s, attending the school day and the evening listening to their idols Charlie Parker (The Bird), Duke Ellington and John Coltrane. The two JPOs affinity with life related to jazz and the poets of the Beat Generation. They met at Bard College in Annandale on Hudson (New York State) in 1967.Un evening, Donald Fagen, who played the piano heard someone playing a piece of blues on his guitar in a classroom of students. The College, they formed a few musical groups including "The Leather Canary" (with American actor Chevy Chase) and "the Don fagen Trio". It is at this time that they began the composition of songs. Donald Fagen was granted in 1969 a university degree in English literature. Walter Becker left him as the University.
