New York Dolls bio:

The New York Dolls is a group of American rock, founded in 1971 in New York and disbanded in 1977. They are a typical example of rock musicians flirting with undisturbed imaging and reinventing the "roaring twenties". They are considered one of the precursors of punk rock. Their music is a digest of glam rock, their attitude is also glam and their look as important in the history that their music (if not more) is in this same line: wigs, travesty and outrageous makeup. In 1975, Thunders and Nolan left the group to form The Heartbreakers. In 2004, the New York Dolls reform at the request of Morrissey that deals this year of the programming of the Meltdown Festival. Remain that three former members of the initial training: singer David Johansen, guitarist Sylvain Sylvain and bassist Arthur killer kane. They decide to continue the concerts and plan even a new album so that new songs feed them. But the death of Arthur Kane on 13 July 2004, leukemia puts a brake on their projects. After a few months of mourning, the last two survivors of the original training decided to resume concerts. In July 2005, they announced a new album, One Day It Will Please Us to Remember Even This coming out on July 10, 2006, in France under the label Roadrunner Records. The latter is accompanied by a world tour with the new formation (mostly the same since the meeting in 2004). Originally, the Group was composed of singer David Johansen, guitarists Johnny Thunders (John Genzale his real name) and Rick Rivets, which was replaced a few months later by Sylvain Mizrahi (known as the identity of Syl Sylvain), from bassist Arthur "Killer" Kane and drummer Billy Murcia. They choose the name of the Group on the New York Doll Hospital, a place where we repair the dolls, next to the store by the uncle of Sylvain. Their first rehearsals are times of great artists of the rhythm ' is blues: Otis Redding, Sonny Boy Williamson.. But their own style (makeup and outrageous) is inspired by the artistic avant-garde of the New York Times, including his most famous representative, Andy Warhol.
