Marty Balin (born Martyn Jerel Buchwald on January 30, 1942, in Cincinnati, Ohio) is an American musician. He is known as a singer and founder of Jefferson Airplane, group formed in San Francisco psychedelic rock pioneer. At the end of his adolescence, Martyn chose to become an artist and a musician. It is produced with the Group at Woodstock in 1969 and the disastrous Altamont Speedway concert, where he was knocked unconscious by a Hells Angels (visible event in the film Gimme Shelter). In 1971, he left Jefferson Airplane, and then in 1973, he recorded an album under the name Bodacious D.F. The following year, he joined Jefferson Starship (successor to the Jefferson Airplane) and contributes to the Caroline song on the album Dragon Fly. He officially joined Jefferson Starship in 1975.Vers the end of 1978, after the success of Miracles, With Your Love, Count on Me and Runaway with Starship, Balin decided to leave again. In 1981, he released a solo album, Balin, with two successful, Hearts and Atlanta Lady. In 1986, with Paul Kantner and Jack Casady he formed a new group, the KBC Band. An attempt to reform the Group Jefferson Airplane in 1989 with most of the original members is a failure. In 1991, he and Kantner form Jefferson Starship - The Next Generation. In 2009, Balin continues to play with Jefferson Starship TNG.He also started painting.
