Joe Boyd (born August 5, 1942) is an American record producer, but who has worked extensively in Britain, with his Witchseason production company, especially in the 1960s (on which he published a book of memoirs in 2006). This is what leads him to record a few titles with Eric Clapton and the Powerhouse in 66 (including Steve Winwood on vocals and organ) found on the What's shakin'' compilation album. The United States he worked for the famous Newport folk and jazz festivals, and this is what leads him to live in the first loges historic evening of July 25, 1965 where a newly electrified Bob Dylan created the famous schism by putting back the old guard of the folk that had until then acclaimed it (see)(: Newport folk festival). Now residing in London, Joe Boyd created the UFO (see UFO Club), underground club where he will notably take groups emerging as Pink Floyd (which he produced the first single Arnold Layne), then The Soft Machine. Especially in the British folk, then focus developing the careers of artists like The Incredible String Band, Fairport Convention, Nick Drake, etc. Income in the United States in the 1970s, he produced including the excellent documentary film titled simply Jimi Hendrix.
