Jason Ricci, born February 3, 1974, is an American singer and harmonicist. Raised in Portland, Maine, Jason Ricci is the son of man of affairs/politician/activist Joe Ricci. This also marked the beginning of a dark period for Ricci, addicted to drugs sent to prison for a year. Ricci claims have been sober since then. In 1999, he won the March National harmonica contest, and began playing and recording with Keith Brown. In 2000, Adam Gussow (Satan and Adam harmonicist) he devoted two pages in the magazine Blues Access, in which he wrote: After 15 months with Big Al and the Heavyweights, Ricci created his own band Jason Ricci and New Blood in 2002, in which there are guitarist Shawn Starski, who in June 2008 was included in the "Top Ten Hottest New Guitarists" in Guitar Player Magazine. In 2005, Ricci won the Muddy Waters of "most promising new bluesman" prize. In 2007, Jason Ricci and New Blood signed in Eclecto Groove, a new subdivision of Delta Groove Records. Their first album on this label, entitled Rocket Number Nine, was released October 23, 2007.highlights 2009, the Group recorded "done with the devil", always on the same label. They were appointed three times for the title of the year blues group by Blues Wax magazine. Ricci was awarded the price of harmonica player of the year by Blues Critic in 2008 and was also nominated for this award in 2009 and 2010.
