IQ is a British band of neo prog founded in 1982 by Mike Holmes after the dissolution of his previous band, The Lens. Although not enjoyed much success throughout his career, managed a solid fan base that still exists today in dà­a. IQ was one of the bands which, together with Marillion, Pendragon, Twelfth Night, or Pallas continued with the progressive rock of the ' 70s bands such as Genesis, Yes and King Crimson. The Wake is perhaps the most acclaimed album of the band, which was released almost at the same time as Misplaced Childhood of Marillion and which became one of the classics of the genre. The following two albums (Nomzamo and Are You Sitting Comfortably?) have a much more appropriate style for the general public. With the return of Nicholls in 1990, IQ returned to their progressive raà­ces with the album Ever. The return of Nicholls coincided with the departure of bassist Tim Esau, who was replaced by John Jowitt. The following albums to date were generally well acclaimed by the crà­tica and loyal audience. In 2005, Paul Cook was replaced by Andy Edwards, and in July 2007 Martin Orford left the band, being replaced by Mark Westworth. Frequency, their first album in five years, with excellent reception from the crà­tica was launched in 2009.
