Erich Honecker, born August 25, 1912 in Neunkirchen in Germany, died on 29 May 1994, at Santiago's Chile was a politician of the East Germany. Erich Honecker was born in Neunkirchen (Saar), street Max-Braun, but yet, his family decided to move shortly after in the neighbourhood of Wiebelskirchen at no. 88 of the Kuchenbergstrasse. In summer 1922, after its 10th anniversary, Erich became a member of the Group of Communist children of Wiebelskirchen, then at age 14, he joined the association of Communist Youth of Germany Kommunistischer Jugendverband Deutschlands (KJVD), and at age 17, he joined the Communist Party. In 1928, he was elected leader of the KJVD local group. No having found apprenticeship place after his schooling, he worked two years on a farm in Pomerania. Return to Wiebelskirchen, he started in 1928 learning Roofer with his uncle that he stopped in order to pursue studies in being delegated to the KJVD Lenin in Moscow international school, belonging to the international youth. Erich Honecker became a member of the Communist Party of Germany (found Partei Deutschlands, KPD) in 1930.Son political sponsor was Otto Niebergall, who was later a member of the Bundestag. From 1930 to 1931, he attended the international Lenin school in Moscow. After his return, he was head of Division of the KJVD for Saarland. In 1933, the year of the arrival to power of Hitler, Communist activism was possible only in a clandestine manner. The Saarland was however not the Third Reich. Honecker was imprisoned in Germany for a short time and was quickly released. He returned in 1934 in the Saarland and worked with Johannes Hoffmann for the campaign against the annexation to the Reich. With the outcome of the vote for the Germany of January 13, 1935, this campaign was made null and void.
