In July 1911, T�f�ri, 19 years old, married second wedding woyz�ro Menen Asfaw, daughter of Jantirar Asfaw of Ambassel, and maternal granddaughter of King Mika'�l of Wollo (W�llo). Emperor Haile Selassie and Empress Menen had six children: Haile Selassie also had a daughter from his first marriage, Princess Romaneworq. On 27 September 1916, the Emperor Lij Yassou (Yassou V), grandson and heir of Emperor Menelik II, suspicious of conversion to islam was filed by an Assembly of nobles with the agreement of the Orthodox Church of Ethiopia. The aunt of Yassou V, daughter of Menelik II, Zaoditou (Z�wditu) was then proclaimed Empress of Ethiopia under the name of Zewditou and his cousin ras (Duke) Tafari, prince heir (alga-w�rash) and Regent of the Crown (end�rassi�). As ras Tafari (the one who is feared in Amharic), he acted as the reality of power under the reign of his cousin the Empress Zaoditou and then as King (Negus) of 1928 (7 October) until in 1930 (April 2).
