The Grand Ole Opry is a live weekly radio programme which takes place on Saturday nights. It is broadcast on the airwaves of WSM (a radio in Nashville, Tennessee) and broadcast on television on "great american Country network". It is the oldest program broadcast on the radio stations of the United States since it is in place since October 18, 1925. The Grand Ole Opry began under the name "the Barn dance Show" ("dancing in the barn"), in the new studios on the fifth floor of the "National Life and Accident Insurance Company" in Nashville, October 18, 1925 .the ' emission lasted then 60 minutes and was broadcast in 22 hours. The first musicians to have given voice to the show were "Dr. Humphrey Bate and his string quartet of old-time musicians". For the third edition of the program, WSM added Uncle Dave Macon and Sid Harkreader. November 5, 1925, WSM lengthens even time of broadcast. In 1924, the show enjoys a dissemination at the national level. In 1926, Uncle Dave Macon, a player of banjo in Tennessee which had registered several successes, became the first true star of the show. The name Grand Ole Opry appeared in December 1927.Le Barn Dance was in competition with a broadcast of the NBC, which broadcasts classical music and a selection of Opera Arias. One day, the presenter of the time (George D.Hay) said "For the past hour, we have been listening to music taken largely from Grand opera." "From now on we will present the ' Grand Ole Opry." ("You have heard the Grand Opera House.") ("Now you listen the Grand Ole Opry"). Since the name has remained. Hurtled the hearings of the show and the studios quickly became too small to satisfy all fans wishing to attend the lives. The Grand Ole Opry moved into a studio more grand theatre Hillsboro (now the Belcourt) show re - moved in 1943 to further expand and moved to the Ryman Auditorium.
