(Sir Edward Elgar (Lower Broadheath, near Worcester) June 2, 1857 - Worcester, February 23, 1934), 1st Baronet Broadheath Elgar, is a British conductor and composer. He was knighted in 1904 by King Edward VII.From 1905 to 1908, he holds the Chair of Professor of music at the University of Birmingham. From 1911, he became principal conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra with which he creates many of his own works. He devoted himself from 1918 primarily to Chamber music. His wife died in 1920.En 1924, he held the post of Master of the King's Music. He however continues its activity of conductor and died in 1934 as a result of cancer in its seventy-seventh year. Conservative and imperialist, Elgar mit his talents as musician in the service of British imperialism, especially in the years 1900/1910, by its letters of nobility to the musical form of the walk to the United Kingdom.
