David Byrne (14 May 1952 in Dumbarton, Scotland-) is a musician, particularly known as a co-founder and principal songwriter of the Group of new wave Talking Heads. He lives in New York. Two years after the birth of David Byrne in Scotland, his parents settled in Ontario (Canada), and then when he was 8 or 9 years in Maryland (United States), in Baltimore. He took courses at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and the Maryland Institute College of art later. In 1974, he created the Talking Heads with two classmates of RISD, Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth. He is the singer and guitarist of the group.
