Carlos Alberto Santana Barragán known as simple Carlos Santana (born July 20, 1947, in Autlán de Navarro (es) in the State of Jalisco, in the Mexico) is a guitarist, composer and American singer of Mexican origin, pivot of the Santana Blues Band, and Santana Brothers groups. It is one of the best-known contemporary guitarists in the world. Carlos Santana also sings, although he has put his voice to rare occasions in his latest albums, as on the Africa Bamba which appears on the album Supernatural. Carlos Santana is today regarded as one of the creators of rock Latino and precursor to the World of music, 1969. In 2003, the monthly Rolling Stone ranked it fifteenth in its list of the top guitarists of all time. From his earliest age Carlos Santana is familiar with the music. His father was a musician in a traditional Mexican mariachi group. He initiated it to the violin that he stepped down at the age of 8 years for his first guitar. It was also at this time (1955) and his family leave for Tijuana and he discovered the instrument that made him famous throughout the world, the electric guitar. At age 17, Carlos Santana made his self-taught formation occurring in Tijuana clubs, while his parents have just immigrated to San Francisco. After a year at Sesame bars in Tijuana, young guitarist decided to leave to join his parents. Arrived in San Francisco, he learned English and immersed Blues. In 1966, the Santana Blues Band (group created by Carlos Santana, its leader) pointed out in the streets of San Francisco. The Group was invited to the festival Woodstock in 1969.Sa delivery, including that of the mythical piece Soul Sacrifice (with a young drummer Michael Shrieve), immortalized in the film Woodstock, who became legendary, assured a great success with his first albummix of salsa and rock. The style of the Group evolved in the 1970s towards a more "psychedelic" and jazzy, music while keeping a strong influence Latin or Gypsy. Follower of Indian guru Sri Chinmoy from 1972 to 1981, Santana will then add "Devadip" (which means "eye of God") in his name (Devadip Carlos Santana).
